Wow! What an honor at my age to be asked to be part of a Team and be an Ambassador for MVP. I felt like a little kid. I was and still excited to be part of this great company. How did I get started? One day a friend read in the Pasadena Star newspaper 1976 about this new thing called ‘Frisbee Golf’ and the first course installed at Oak Grove Park Pasadena/La Canada, CA. I went to a store and bought a Wham-o Super Pro, jumped on my Harley and rode down to Oak Grove to give it a try. Yes indeed! I thought this is FUN! Been playing pretty much since then. Even when I went back to college and became a teacher, for PE I had a unit for the kids called ‘Discology.’ Where they learned how to throw various ways playing catch, spinning the disc on your fingernail – ‘freestyle,’ ‘Ultimate,’ and finally disc golf. I got the parents involved to take the kids to a park for lunch and a round of Frisbee ‘Disc’ Golf. I wasn’t a ‘joiner’ back then. When asked to join this NEW organization the ‘Professional Disc Golf Association.’ I said no thanks – I don’t need to pay to play. Guys I played with are 42, 67, and others – one day at a tournament it was going to cost $10 more to play because I wasn’t a member – OK I’ll join. #706. Thank you to MVP for the opportunity. MVP gives me a reason to talk about their awesome discs and the sport I love.
