First and foremost, I am a school teacher in Western North Carolina. I teach 7th grade science. My goal is to install a course at every school in my county that has space for one. 2.5 courses down…several more to go.
I grew up playing golf, and loved the Saturday morning dogfights, Wednesday wing dings, and fundraising tournaments that were being played. Unfortunately, as a school teacher, I can not afford that golf life. Fortunately, I stumbled upon disc golf. I played once a month (at most) for several years, but then a course was installed near my house in 2016 (Jackson Park in Hendersonville, NC). I was playing one day, and someone told me about doubles and the PDGA. Next thing you know, I was hooked. All the things I loved about golf, was back in my world.
I am truly humbled that MVP has decided to help support my dream of putting baskets in schools. Hopefully we can continue to build the disc golf community in schools one gyro disc at a time! I recently created a non-profit called D.I.S.C. (Disc golf In Schools and communities). I hope to be able to use it to grow the sport even more.
