I started playing disc golf very casually with my little brother and best friend in 2009. We were looking for something to do that was fun, cheap, and got us out of the house. We moved around a bit over the next few years, but we still managed to find time to hang out and play disc golf.
In 2013, I found myself in a position where I was able to focus a bit more on playing and developing my game. I played my first tournaments (non-sanctioned) in AM1, and later in the year was able to take 2nd in my first PDGA tournament.
I decided to move to MPO in 2014, but wasn’t able to find the time or resources to compete much. I did get my first non-sanctioned pro win, but only played 4 events.
I met my future fiancé in the spring of 2015, and she immediately began encouraging me to play more professional tournaments. I’ve gladly followed her suggestion for the last 4 years, and have gone from a part-time player to full-time professional. Disc golf has been an amazing experience so far! I’ve been lucky enough to hit 1000 rated, win tournaments that I love, and even make the Sportscenter top 10, but what means the most to me is the friendships and relationships that I’ve gotten to be a part of because of this awesome game. Disc golf has kept me close to my best friend and brother, and for that reason alone, I’ll play as long as I’m able to.
